TAKTONS- competition of sound recordings is a biannual evaluation of supreme achievements in the field of professional sound recording in radio and television. This unique manifestation was being organized and hosted by Radio Novi Sad under the patronage of Jugoslovenska Radio Televizija-JRT- (Yugoslav Radio Television) in the period between 1982 and 1990. Because of the known unfavorable events, a cessation in organizing of TAKTONS occurred and lasted for over eleven years.

In January of 2001, Radio-Televizija Srbije and Radio-Televizija Crne Gore decided to form the Initiative Committee for organizing TAKTONS anew. It was decided to organize TAKTONS from 24th to 28 th October 2002 in the well-known traditional way retaining all the positive characteristics for which the competition was recognized.

Mrs. Raina Konstantinova, the Director of the EBU Radio Department, visited TAKTONS 2002. On that occasion Director Konstantinova stressed the significance of radio in 21st century and gave her support.

After this, the jubilarian TAKTONS followed up in 2004, November 17 to 20, which was also successfully accomplished. Like the previous events, this one also took place in the premises of Radio Novi Sad.

Unfortunately, the next 11th TAKTONS in 2006 was missed due to the transformation of Rado-Televizija Novi Sad into a public media service. Since then we are operating as RUV (Radiodifuzna ustanova Vojvodine) Radio-Televizija Vojvodine.

Following the established customs, in the course of TAKTONS there will be the international exhibition of professional audio equipment producers. During its active years the number of exhibitants continually increased reaching between 25 and 30 stands. Just as reminder, with no intention to complete the list the exhibiting companies, amongst others, were: Sony Broadcast Ltd.,

Studer S.A., Siemens A.G., Neve Ltd., NTP AS, AKG G.m.b.H. ,AVC Group, Lola Audio, Ei Niš, Barth Impex G.m.b.H., Elsinco G.m.b.H., Gtothusen G.m.b.H., Meyer Sound, etc… TAKTONS has opened up for sound recordings from abroad, mostly from the surrounding countries. The organizer is counting on presence of professionals –authors of quality recordings, engineers and all other sound professionals in extensive numbers. As an integral part of TAKTONS, again we must say, in its best tradition, a number of expert speeches dedicated to recording, sound processing, acoustics, audio measurement , and the like will be held. Also, we are preparing a TAKTONS publication.

  The Purpose of TAKTONS:

The aim of the Competition is to gain insight into creative achievements in the field of sound recording in the past two years nd provide professional evaluation of technical quality of the sound ecordings based on predefined subjective and objective parameters. Quality improvement of the achievements in this field, hrough creative application of contemporary technologies both in adio and television is the obligation imposed by the profession.
Competing can contribute significantly to promoting of program production within the radio audience and television public, and at the same time represent a challenge for enhancement of knowledge and skills for all program creators.

G3 as a new category that did not exist previously, yet it covers the largest portion of the Public Media service’s production, and for this reason it should be cherished in order to better programs.
