COMPETITION IN SOUND RECORDING

November 07-10 2007. In RADIO NOVI SAD

Sound Recordings Competition – TAKTONS is a biannual evaluation of supreme achievements in professional sound recordings made both for radio and television. This unique manifestation was organized by Radio Novi Sad under the patronage of the Yugoslav Radio Television (JRT) between 1982 to 1990. Due to political disruptions the  TAKTONS was interrupted for more than eleven years.

In January of 2001 Radio-Television of Serbia and Radio-Television of Monte Negro formed the Initiative Board that would restart TAKTONS. A year later,  in October of 2002, TAKTONS opened  October 24-28, in its traditional manner, known to numerous professionals, preserving all the positive characteristics for which this competition has won its reputation.  Two years later, followed the jubilee, the 10th TAKTONS in 2004, that took place from November 17-20, which was completed successfully. As on previous occasions the set of the event were the premises of Radio Novi Sad.

Regretfully,  there was no 11th , TAKTONS in 2006, due to the on-going transformation of Radio-Television of Novi Sad into a public media service. Today we are operating as the RUV (Broadcasting Facility of Vojvodina) Radio-Televizija Vojvodine.

According to traditions, during the TAKTONS, an international exhibition of professional audio equipment will be organized. During the active years, the number of participants kept increasing. The number of exhibitors today  is 25 to 30 booths. To name a few of many exibitors: Sony Broadcast Ltd., Studer S.A., Siemens A.G., Neve Ltd.,NTP AS, AKG G.m.b.H., AVC Group, Lola Audio, Ei Nis, Brth Impex G.m.b.H.,Gtotheusen G.m.b.H., Meyer Sound, etc…

TAKTONS opened up for recordings coming from abroad, mostly from neighboring countries. The organizer counts on the presence of professionals – authors of quality recordings, engineers and all sound – professionals in significant numbers. As an integral part of the TAKTONS events are seminars on sound recording, sound editing, acoustics, audio measuring and more.

  The Purpose of TAKTONS:

The purpose of the competition is to gain insight in creative achievements in sound recordings of the last two years and to provide a professional evaluation of the technical quality of the sound recordings based on the uniformly predefined subjective and objective parameters. Quality improvement of achievements in this field through creative application of contemporary technologies, both in radio and television, is the obligation imposed by the profession. This competition may significantly aid to promote program production before the radio and television audience, while at the same time it represents a challenge to enhance knowledge and skills of all program creators.
