TAKTONS is a biannual competition of the highest accomplishments in the field of professional sound recording. It is a unique event organized by Radio Novi Sad on behalf of Jugoslovenska Radio Televizija (YRT between 1982 and 1990.) Due to political disruptions TAKTONS was interrupted for more than eleven years.. Recently a decision has been made by the Radio-Television of Serbia and Radio-Television of Montenegro, to reorganize TAKTONS, starting this year. The suggested term for the event is October 24-28, in the city of Novi Sad. By tradition, during TAKTONS a regularly organized international pro-audio exhibition is held. In the active years of TAKTONS the number of exhibitors was constantly growing, today reaching up to 25-30 booths. To name a few of many exibitors: Sony Broadcast Ltd., Studer S.A., Siemens A.G., Neve Ltd., NTP Elektronik AS AKG G.m.b.H., Barth Impex G.m.b.H., Elsinco G.m.b.H., Grothusen G.m.b.H., Meyer Sound, Lola Audio, etc... This year TAKTONS will be opened to recordings from abroad too, mainly from the neighboring countries. The concentration of professionals, engineers and other creators of audio recordings is expected to be significant. A series of lectures on the subjects of audio recording techniques, sound processing and equipment are planed as an integral part of TAKTONS. A catalogue of all the events will be published with advertizing possibilities. The aim of TAKTONS: The goal of the competition is to review the achievements of the previous year's work and to professionally evaluate the quality of the sound recordings, based upon predefined, uniform subjective and objective parameters. It is to improve the accomplishments by creative application of technology in program production (both Radio and TV). The competition is a valuable contribution to the promotion of the audio program on Radio and TV as a whole, also to improve the technological base of personal skills in technical and program services, by providing a challenge to those engaged in audio production. TAKTONS 2002 After 12 years, in Studio "M" of Radio Novi Sad and in Radio Novi Sad itself TAKTONS 2002 was very successfully organized and held from October 24-28, 2002. It was a review of the best sound recordings by six radio and TV centers of former Yugoslavia: RTV Slovenia, RTV Montenegro, Public Service BH Federation, RTV Republika Srpska, Macedonian RTV, RTV Belgrade and RTV Novi Sad. Representatives of Croatian RTV did not appear at that time. We hope that they will participate in future TAKTONS events which will for sure, take a significant place in the EBU calendar of competitions. TAKTONS 2002 was a review of know-how and skills, but also a chance for exchanging experiences, comparing achievements in creativity and radio expressiveness. It was a chance to examine the place and role of Radio and TV centers, in the era of most recent technical and technological achievements, and how they should be transformed into program contents. RTV Slovenia proved to be, according to its technical potential, only a step behind the most powerful European and world radio and TV broadcasters. It should be pointed out that other radio and TV broadcasters do not lag behind either. Absence of sophisticated equipment, due to poor financial situation, were compensate with knowledge, persistence and great enthusiasm. During the event a round-table conference was held. Several expert seminars, noticeable presentations and various demonstrations took place. TAKTONS 2002 was successfully supplemented with the exhibition of contemporary radio equipment of the world's best manufacturers. It was a "small show" of state-of-the-art equipment required for the successful operation of any contemporary radio broadcaster.
TAKTONS 2002 has been visited by Mrs. Raina Konstantinova, Director of Radio Department EBU. She spoke about the function and importance of radio in 21st century, a medium which is becoming faster more vital in communication and also a contemporary way of expression. TAKTONS was opened and visited by Mr. Djordje Djukic, President of the Executive Council of Vojvodina, Mr. Rafail Ruskovski, Minister of Information of Vojvodina and his asistant Mr. Nicifor Todorovic. Finally, we must say that Novi Sad was a perfect host. It opened its wide doors to the participants - competitors and exhibitors, and also to
